Amanda Borgfors Mészàros

As human beings we are equipped with tools for a sustainable and never-ending design process. Our bodies and our senses contain a veritable archive of knowledge which all too often is exclusive to the individual. Revealing its innermost secrets can be as terrifying as it is gratifying. We need to embrace the meaning of art and crafts as well as the creative and inclusive design process.

Thanks to a sustainable and conscious process of thought, for instance, I make use of waste and used materials, hand-painted fabrics and hand-sewn creations. My message is clear. In Obscura quality ranks high above quantity.

When two worlds collide, opportunities arise for something new. In this concept collection featuring my own patterns for ATP Atelier, fashionwear from the 1980s meets up with Japanese ceramic art. This fusion gives rise to a modern and sensual look with classical elements that challenge triviality. My inspiration comes from a combination of the French actress Sophie Marceau and Japanese ceramic designer Kishi Eiko. Eiko’s elegant ceramics have defined the lines and shapes while Marceau, with her self-assurance and vitality, has brought the forms to life.

ATP is an abbreviation of All Tomorrow's Parties, a song by Velvet Underground that has inspired the founders of the accessories market. Starting with the song and Andy Warhol’s film Chelsea Girls we have created a film in which four rooms reflect different moods from the song.
